Google Adwords

You may already have noticed Google Adwords. They are the text ads that are placed next to search results (usually on the right) and on web pages.

They have either sponsored links or ads by Gooooogle at the top of the links to show that they are indeed ads.

Google Adwords is a Pay per Click (PPC) system which means that when someone clicks on the ad the advertiser is charged a fee. Google Adwords has several new and unique features :

  • The ads are content targeted.
  • They appear on the search results and on web pages.
  • Website owners receive a share of the click fee for ads displayed on their websites (Google Adsense).
  • The position of your ad is related to how much you pay and how popular the ad is.

Google Adwords Overview

Goggle's search engine mission is to give searchers exactly what they search for. They are dedicated to providing relevant search results. They have continued this philosophy with Google ads.

Unlike traditional PPC advertising where your ad position is based on how much you are prepared to pay. Google ads reward relevant ads by increasing their ad position and for bad or irrelevant ads it decreases their position and in some cases suspends them all together.

Google measures the ad popularity by monitoring how many people click on the ad (Click through rate). The more clicks the more popular and the higher the ad. With Google ads you don't have to pay the most to get listed first! You need to provide the most relevant and popular ads.
